January 18th is a big day for British children's literature. It's the birthday of A.A. Milne, Arthur Ransome and also of our greatest living children's illustrator Raymond Briggs who is 79 today. But in lieu of any official celebration of his work (where's the Knighthood Queenie?), I thought I'd mark it by collecting together some of my jottings about the great man, starting with the first in my Raymond Briggs Treasury from earlier this week.
Happy Birthday Sir Raymond.
